About

This is a community package of TextureCraft, maintained independently and unaffiliated with the TextureCraft project. It repackages the official upstream Linux release build unmodified.

TextureCraft is an open-source, native 3D texture painter written in Rust that follows the Substance 3D Painter workflow: familiar menus, shortcuts, panels and tools, with texture sets, layers, masks, fills and effects painted straight onto the model.

  • Open glTF/GLB, FBX, COLLADA, USD (USDA/USDC/USDZ), Alembic, OBJ, PLY and STL meshes and save projects as .tcraft
  • Paint base colour, roughness, metallic, normal and height together with PBR brushes
  • Bake mesh maps and export texture sets as PNG, EXR, TGA, JPEG or TIFF
  • Every action is a command, scriptable from a CLI and a JSON control channel

The headless command runner and MCP server is included: flatpak run --command=texturecraft-cli ai.storyteller.texturecraft --help

Permissions: this package uses the same sandbox as upstream's own Flatpak manifest: display (Wayland, with X11 as a fallback), the GPU device, and the Pictures and Documents folders. Files anywhere else are opened and saved through the system file chooser. No network access is granted.

Optional overrides:

  • Let agents on the host reach the --control automation server: flatpak override --user --share=network ai.storyteller.texturecraft
  • Open files by path anywhere in your home folder (command line, Open Recent): flatpak override --user --filesystem=home ai.storyteller.texturecraft
