About
This is a community package of Audionaut, maintained independently and unaffiliated with its developer. It repackages the official upstream Linux release unmodified and follows upstream releases automatically.
Audionaut is a free, open-source desktop application for audio editing and recording. Whether you are working on music, podcasts or multitrack recordings, it gives you precise cutting, per-track playlists, multi-channel support and clean exports, without the weight of a full DAW.
- Multitrack, multichannel, region-based and non-destructive editing
- Clip gain, bendable fades and crossfades, clip speed with pitch-preserving time-stretch
- Audio analysis and Auto Edit: segment boundaries, onsets and beat tracking
- Stem separation into drums, bass, other and vocals, running locally
- Recording with takes, loop playback, snap to grid, tempo sync via Ableton Link
- Export to WAV, FLAC, Ogg Vorbis and MP3
Stem separation downloads the Demucs model weights (about 80 MB) on first use; all processing then happens on your machine. Anonymous usage statistics are opt-in and asked about on first launch.
Permissions: this package grants the display, the GPU, the sound server (playback and recording), network access (the model download, the update notice, Ableton Link and the opt-in statistics) and your home folder, because projects are folders that the app's own file browser opens directly. With that grant the app uses the same places as a native install: settings in ~/.config/voltmer-systems and new projects in ~/Music/Audionaut. The update notice only tells you a new version exists; updates arrive through this Flatpak remote.
