About
This is a community package of Blanc, maintained independently. It repackages the official upstream Linux build unmodified.
Blanc is a desktop web browser built around a minimal floating "Island" toolbar that keeps out of the way of the page, with ad and tracker blocking built in.
- Built-in ad and tracker blocking, no extension needed
- Private tabs
- Tab groups, workspaces and profiles
- A command palette for tabs, history and actions
- A start page with your shortcuts
Updates are delivered through Flatpak; Blanc's own updater is switched off in this package.
Downloads go to your Downloads folder by default; saving anywhere else goes through the file-chooser portal. Importing bookmarks and history from another browser needs read access to that browser's profile, which is not granted by default. To allow it for Chrome, for example:
- flatpak override --user --filesystem=~/.config/google-chrome:ro com.blancbrowser.Blanc
The other supported sources are ~/.config/chromium, ~/.config/BraveSoftware/Brave-Browser, ~/.config/microsoft-edge and ~/.config/vivaldi.
