About
This is a community package of the Epic Games Launcher, maintained independently. It repackages Epic's official Linux AppImage unmodified.
The Epic Games Launcher is where you buy, download and play games from the Epic Games Store: your library, downloads and updates, cloud saves, friends and parties. This is Epic's new launcher, which Epic still calls a Preview, so some features may not work as expected.
Many games on the store are Windows builds. The launcher runs those through GE-Proton, which it downloads by itself the first time you launch one. Proton also needs 32-bit libraries, which come from Flathub; install them once with flatpak install flathub org.freedesktop.Platform.Compat.i386//26.08 org.freedesktop.Platform.GL32.default//26.08. Games with kernel-level anti-cheat may not run on Linux at all.
Games are installed in the Games folder in your home folder, the launcher's default, which this package can reach. To install them somewhere else, such as a second drive, grant that folder first, for example flatpak override --user --filesystem=/mnt/games com.epicgames.eglv2. Remove such grants with flatpak override --user --reset com.epicgames.eglv2.
Updates come through Flatpak, not through the launcher's own updater.
