About

This is a community package of FluxDown, maintained independently and unaffiliated with the FluxDown project. It repackages the official upstream Linux build (the .deb release) unmodified.

FluxDown is a download manager with a Rust and Tokio engine and a native interface built on GPUI. It splits transfers into segments that are rebalanced at runtime, keeps every byte tracked in SQLite so downloads survive a crash or reboot, and offers a queue, speed limiting and a system tray.

  • HTTP, HTTPS and FTP downloads with dynamic multi-segment acceleration.
  • BitTorrent (DHT, magnet), eD2K, and HLS / DASH stream capture.
  • Light and dark themes, and a local API on 127.0.0.1 with a built-in Model Context Protocol server for AI clients.

Browser integration: the browser extension's Native Messaging connection is not available under Flatpak, because a host browser cannot start the helper program inside the sandbox. The app's local API on 127.0.0.1 is reachable as usual.

Permissions: this package keeps a tight sandbox by default — display, GPU, network, notifications, a tray icon, and your Downloads folder. Saving to any other directory goes through the desktop portal's file chooser. To grant a specific folder permanently, run flatpak override --user --filesystem=~/Media com.fluxdown.app, substituting your own path; --filesystem=home grants the whole home directory.

The in-app updater and the "start at login" setting do not apply here: updates arrive through Flatpak, and the login entry the app writes stays inside the sandbox.

FluxDown sends anonymous usage analytics by default; you can turn this off in Settings.
