Google Chrome

Google Chrome is a browser that combines a minimal design with sophisticated technology to make the web faster, safer, and easier.

This is a community package. It installs Google's official Linux .deb unmodified, downloaded from Google at install time, and follows new stable releases automatically. It is maintained independently of Google.

The browser stores its profile in its private Flatpak data directory. Files outside the Downloads directory are opened and saved through the desktop file chooser portal.

Compared with the Chrome package on Flathub, this one runs on the 26.08 runtime and ships nothing built from source: the Chromium sandbox comes from the prebuilt zypak in the Electron base app. Proxy settings from the host desktop and Chrome policies in the host's /etc/opt/chrome are not read; set a proxy with --proxy-server in ~/.var/app/com.google.Chrome/config/chrome-flags.conf, one flag per line.
