ElyDoc

This is a community package of ElyDoc, maintained independently. It repackages the official upstream Linux build unmodified.

ElyDoc is the word processor of Ely Office, a set of offline-first desktop apps written in Rust with GPUI. It opens and saves DOCX, ODT, DOC and RTF files in their own format, with LibreOfficeKit as the document engine.

• Text, paragraph, list, style and page formatting in a side panel
• Saves back to the original format; Save As writes a new file and leaves the original alone
• Recovery points every 10 seconds while there are unsaved changes, kept only on this computer
• Optional auto-save, zoom from 25% to 400%, printing and export

ElyDoc works fully offline. The package shares the network only because opening a second file hands it to the window already open over a local connection. It can read and write your Documents and Downloads folders; other files are opened and saved through the file chooser, or from your file manager. Settings and recovery points live in ~/.var/app/ely.zacharyzhang.office.doc.

To open files anywhere in your home directory by path: flatpak override --user --filesystem=home ely.zacharyzhang.office.doc. Undo with flatpak override --user --reset ely.zacharyzhang.office.doc.

In-app updates are left to Flatpak: new upstream releases arrive as Flatpak updates.
