About
This is a community package of Flow Desktop, maintained independently. It repackages the official upstream build unmodified.
Flow is an independent, privacy-first desktop client for YouTube and YouTube Music, and the companion to Flow for Android. It is not affiliated with, authorized by or endorsed by Google LLC or YouTube, and it works without an account.
- Native video playback with quality and codec selection, chapters, subtitles, playback speed, queues, a mini player and picture-in-picture.
- A music mode with lyrics.
- Subscriptions, history and playlists kept on your computer.
- FlowNeuro, a recommendation engine that runs entirely locally and learns from what you watch.
The package has network access to stream, can play audio and show notifications, and has no filesystem grant: your data stays in the application's private per-app directory, and imports and exports go through the file chooser portal. Video is decoded through the GStreamer plugins of the Flatpak runtime and its codecs extension.
Upstream currently publishes beta releases, which this package follows until a stable release replaces them. Updates come through Flatpak; if the application offers to install an update itself, ignore it and update with Flatpak instead.
