About

This is a community package of Netcatty, maintained independently and unaffiliated with its author. It repackages the official upstream Linux Debian build unmodified.

Netcatty is an SSH workspace built with Electron: a vault of hosts and groups, split-pane terminal tabs with session restore, and a dual-pane SFTP browser with a built-in editor. It connects over SSH, Telnet, Mosh, serial ports and local terminals, renders Kitty/SIXEL/iTerm inline images, and supports custom themes and keyword highlighting. A built-in AI agent, Catty Agent, assists with diagnostics and multi-host operations.

Permissions: by default this package keeps a tight sandbox - network, display, GPU, audio, notifications and keyring access - which is enough for SSH/Telnet sessions and for transferring files chosen through the file portal. Stored credentials are encrypted with the system keyring. A few optional capabilities are not granted by default; enable the ones you need with "flatpak override":

  • Reuse your existing host SSH keys/config: flatpak override --user --filesystem=~/.ssh:ro io.github.binaricat.Netcatty
  • Serial-port connections: flatpak override --user --device=all io.github.binaricat.Netcatty
  • Browse your whole home directory in the SFTP browser: flatpak override --user --filesystem=home io.github.binaricat.Netcatty

Updates come through Flatpak: this package tracks upstream releases, so a new Netcatty build arrives with flatpak update. The bundled updater cannot install anything inside the sandbox, so use your package manager instead.
