Mark Shot

Mark Shot captures the screen instantly and opens an interactive fullscreen overlay for cropping and annotating the result. It was written for Wayland compositors such as niri and now covers the usual X11, GNOME, KDE and wlroots desktops as well.

Features:

• Pen, highlighter, shapes, arrows, text, numbered markers, mosaic and a resizable magnifier
• Pin any crop as a frameless floating sticker you can drag, scale and rotate
• Copy to the clipboard, save to disk, or upload to a configurable image host
• Scan a QR code or barcode straight out of the selection
• Record a region or a display to GIF, MP4 or MKV, with pause and resume
• OCR a pinned sticker and translate the recognized text through OpenAI-compatible, Tencent, Baidu or Youdao endpoints

Notes on this Flatpak package:

• Screen capture goes through the desktop portal, so your compositor may ask for permission the first time. On Plasma Wayland the KWin ScreenShot2 path is used instead.
• The window is drawn through X11 (XWayland on a Wayland session), because that is the toolkit backend this build carries. It does not change how the screen is captured.
• The build packaged here includes the four translation plugins; the barcode/QR and OCR plugins are separate downloads in the plugin marketplace.
• Scrolling capture on GNOME Wayland needs a GNOME Shell extension that a sandboxed app cannot install for you.
• Hovering a window to select it automatically asks the compositor through its own client (hyprctl, niri, ...), which is not reachable from the sandbox; drag a region instead.

A few optional capabilities are not granted by default; enable the ones you need with "flatpak override":
