About

This is a community package of Duckling, maintained independently. It repackages the official upstream build unmodified.

Duckling is a lightweight desktop viewer for quickly exploring CSV, Parquet and JSON data files, DuckDB and SQLite databases, and remote SQL databases.

  • Browse data in a paginated grid with filtering, column controls and value inspection
  • Write and run SQL with schema-aware completion, formatting, history and saved queries
  • Explore data with pivot tables, column profiles and value distributions
  • Connect to PostgreSQL, MySQL and ClickHouse in addition to local DuckDB and SQLite data
  • Export query results to CSV, TSV, JSON, Parquet or XLSX

By default this package can read and write files in your Documents and Downloads directories. Duckling's settings, connection information and other application data stay in its private per-app directory.

To keep data in another directory, grant only that location: flatpak override --user --filesystem=/path/to/data io.github.l1xnan.duckling. If you prefer to expose your whole home directory, opt in with flatpak override --user --filesystem=home io.github.l1xnan.duckling. Remove custom grants with flatpak override --user --reset io.github.l1xnan.duckling.

Duckling needs network access for its remote PostgreSQL, MySQL and ClickHouse connections. Install application updates through Flatpak; the built-in updater cannot replace the read-only Flatpak application.
