Kai 9000

This is a community package of Kai 9000, maintained independently and unaffiliated with the Kai project. It repackages the official upstream Linux tarball unmodified and follows upstream releases automatically.

Kai 9000 is an open-source AI assistant that remembers important details across conversations and uses them automatically. It connects to Ollama, Gemini, ChatGPT, Claude, Mistral, Groq, OpenRouter and any OpenAI-compatible API, with automatic failover between services.

• Persistent memory and an editable "soul" (system prompt).
• Interactive UI: the AI can build screens such as quizzes, dashboards and recipe cards.
• Tools: web search, notifications, shell commands and more, plus remote MCP servers.
• An autonomous heartbeat that periodically surfaces anything needing attention.
• Encrypted local conversation storage, text to speech, image attachments, settings export and import.

Permissions: this package grants network access, audio output, desktop notifications and the GPU. It grants no access to your files: conversations and settings stay in the app's private data, and attachments are picked through the file chooser. The app draws through X11 (XWayland on Wayland desktops).

Scope: the shell-command tool runs inside the Flatpak sandbox, on the tools the runtime provides — not on your host system — and cannot see your home folder.
